Aerial perspective of fatal accident scene on Hwy 174 in Ottawa
A worker taken to hospital after he was struck by a sport-utility vehicle on Regional Road 174 Thursday afternoon has died, Ottawa police confirmed.
The collision occurred on the highway median strip near Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m, and two off-duty paramedics were first to arrive on the scene moment later.
The landscape maintenance worker, who was thrown “more than eight metres from the impact,” showed no vital signs when paramedics arrived, the Ottawa Paramedic Service said.
“Resuscitative measures” were undertaken as he was brought to hospital, but he was declared dead shortly after.
“He succumbed from his injuries,” said acting inspector Carl Cartright.

I saw this "pyro-musical" performance, as they call it, from the grounds of the Museum of History in Gatineau. The perspective of the fireworks against the backdrop of Parliament Hill, combined with the absolutely amazing performance by Canada, was among the most jaw-dropping spectacles I've ever witnessed. And then I saw this perspective of the show. Incredible awesome what you have captured here. Thanks for sharing, David.

Great stuff David. I watched your other vids also. They are great too. I love this kind of aerial stuff. I imagine there must be SOME restrictions involving this? Interestingly, I was downtown for the Lac Lemay "Canada" fireworks and I was also at the Highland games this year on the Friday. This looks like it was taken on the Saturday. They should rethink the colour of the roof on the North Stands. Something that doesn't show dirt as much.

Best use of an aerial drone I've seen so far this year. I may be a touch prejudiced, however, seeing as 53 of my 65 years have been involved with pipe bands. 37 of those 53 years were spent performing on Friday nights and / or Saturdays on this field. What a fabulous sight!

You could probably make a ton of you taped each race (or team) and charged $10 for a DVD of it. I paddled 10 races that weekend and have been paddling for 8 years and have rarely seen myself in action! Or even if you did a souvenir highlight reel of the whole weekend. So great!

Thanks Karen. I believe this was race Block 3 Preliminary Race 28. I just randomly taped this race, and the one before it. Maybe I'll take requests for the next Dragon Boat festival. lol
